The Caban.

The Caban is an old Breton garment used by the local fishermen there for centuries as a work jacket. It was originally white ('kap gwenn' means in Breton 'white cloth'), but changed over to blue in the early 19th century. In this colour it was adopted by the fleets and merchant ships of various European countries, and came to be the 'ultimate' piece of sailors' clothing. Our Caban is made in Quimper by Armor Lux: in both material and finish, it's the genuine article!

Material and Cut.

It's made of heavy, densely woven cloth weighing 800g/r.m. The straight-cut jacket has a collar with lapels and a button-up neck-flap; it has a double row of three matt-finished aluminium buttons down the front. With two side pockets; two inside pockets with metal zips.
