This device was patented in England in 1842. The tempered steel thread is carefully ground, rendering chemical treatment unnecessary. The so-called »automatic« lever corkscrews, unlike manual pull corkscrews, usually have a sharp as opposed to a smooth thread. The thread diameter and pitch must each function at their optimum, according to their size. This is precisely what has been achieved here.
