This is the third generation of the «Minna« kitchen machine from West Germany. The predecessors of today's M3 were loyal servants in many German, predominantly Westphalian, households in the 1950s and 1960s. All those owners who remained devoted to their Minnas despite fierce competition from electric machines in the 1960s (with their promise of convenience and modernity) have been rewarded with untiring service. (The manufacturer still provides spare parts for first- and second-generation machines).
The housing is made from a grey baked pre-coated lacquered aluminium alloy. The disks are made from stainless steel, 1.3 mm thick. They are driven by a wooden handled crank arm with a crank length of 10 cm.
Food to be cut or chopped is inserted via a shaft, and a flexible lever presses the food through the machine. The fineness of the shredded or chopped food can be varied by altering the pressure and the crank rotations. The machine comes with 5 disks:
1. Cutting disk (cuts potatoes, onions, vegetables, nuts etc. into slices)
2. Coarse chopping disk (chops, among other things, carrots, potatoes, radishes into coarse or fine strips)
3. Fine chopping disk («Waldorf disk«, for salads or chopped nuts)
4. Grating disk (coarse and fine grating, e.g. for potato pancakes or mash, but also for hard cheeses)
5. Shredding disk with splash guard lid (for finely grated salads, finely ground nuts, breadcrumbs etc.)
and a juicer (for small quantities of fruit and vegetable juice).
This kitchen machine has a rubber suction pad for use on all smooth surfaces.
