The name 'Mühle' is part of Glashütte history – it's the 'oldest' (founded 1869) and the only really established precision engineering works in the famous watchmaking town. It's also the 'newest' – it was re-established in 1994 following a number of policy-shifts and setbacks caused by the East German situation at the time. Since then Mühle has shown lively growth. It concentrates today on the production of high-precision ships' chronometers and other nautical instruments, with which it has rapidly made a name for itself. At the same time it has enhanced its reputation as a specialized manufacturer of high-quality wrist watches.
