Pencils with an eraser tip end up with either the eraser worn down far too early or the eraser ends up in the wastepaper basket with the pencil when the latter has shrunk to an unusable size. The simplest solution for this problem has all but vanished from the market: erasers that look like little caps, slipped over the end of the pencil.
