The famous Andes wool: alpaca.

The llama, whose coat yields alpaca wool, lives in the high mountain ranges of Peru and Bolivia. At 4000 m, the climate is extreme; for protection, the llama has a coat of extra-light, long wool – the hairs are up to 40 cm in length – possessing amazing qualities of insulation. Llamas can only be part-sheared every two years, which makes this high-quality wool expensive, with a fibre thickness of 22-30 micron.
