The finest shoe trees are usually made of beech or cedarwood and have a divided front section for better ventilation in the shoe and a more precise fitting. Untreated wood should always be used to ensure optimum moisture absorption. The shoes should also be laid on their sides, on the shoe trees, so that the soles can be aired too.
