Made of selected cowhides from Southern Germany and cut with raw edges, this simple belt acquires an especially beautiful patina with time. It is remarkably tough and long-lived, a quality the pit-tanned, 3,5–3,8 mm thick harness leather gets from very intense greasing (the leather contains 20% fat, 8% being the average). The buckle – solid brass, silver-coloured, galvanised without nickel, is saddle-stitched to the belt by hand. Approx. 4 cm wide, 5 belt holes, waxed edges. In lengths 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120 cm. Comes in a cotton bag.
Schröder and Son in Schleswig-Holstein have been manufacturing leather and leather products since 1796. The company was originally a bark tannery, which might well explain why the raw materials used are selected with a degree of care and attention rarely found in the industry today: only the best, vegetable tanned cattle shaft leather is used. The top layer of leather is barrel-dyed rather than simply sprayed as is more common today. The belt edges are thinner and have been shaped to give them a more elegant appearance.
