Colours vary. Steel thread, cotton straps, 40 cm length, 25,5 cm wide, strap width 2 cm, weight 60 g.
Undoubtedly, the string bag was one
of the most intelligent carrying devices ever used by mankind. However, it disappeared about 30 years ago. Historians of civilization will probably discover that it innocently suffered collateral damage in the “jute versus plastic” war.
We have managed to reanimate it, using a classic material: steel thread.
Steel thread.
Steel thread is closely connected to design history. The multiply twined cotton thread covered with paraffin
wax was invented at the Bauhaus and, weaved into straps, served Marcel Breuer for his famous swing chairs. Because of their indestructibility, steel threads were also the material of
choice for string bags. We have manufactured nets with elastic meshes once again – on the one hand for the classic string bag, on the other hand for a string rucksack – a product that was always around, but is currently experiencing a renaissance for freehanded transport, especially on bicycles.
