Pilots and commercial travellers formed the avant-garde of today’s highly mobile work scene – which of course needs a special type of travelling case. The pilot’s case has by now established itself as the ideal model for the ‘portable office’ with folding laptop, files, writing things and change of shirt. Its compact measurements have been specially designed to be the right size for trade fairs, congresses or business trips and – see below – for air travel. In this respect it’s distinctly superior to any other kind of case. Now that it’s been given rollers, it’s also extremely easy to take around. So we’ve decided to enhance our range with a ‘real’ pilot’s case – as used by the crew of a ‘real’ German airline – with the classic boxy shape that gives you so much extra stow-away space, and with the special materials and finish to stand up to hard use. It’s made of tough, double-tanned calf leather with open stitching and additional studs on the top flaps to help it survive the usual rough treatment cases get on luggage belts and airport walkways. It has inner compartments of bonded leather, two pen-loops on the inside flap, two coded locks and a leather-covered handle. It has been manufactured for us in Germany by the Specialist and Technical Case Co. Ltd. (SGT) in Saxony.
Since May 2007 most airlines are not willing to take cases bigger than 56 x 45 x 25 cm as cabin luggage. Our pilot’s case with rollers is within this limit.
