This form of fly and wasp trap has long been known in and around Thuringia in East Germany. The inside edge of the jar is filled with a sweet or sour liquid. Insects follow this lure, fly into the inside of the glass from underneath and are then trapped. (There are lots of »insider tips« on the liquids to use, such as Coke for wasps, vinegar water for fruit flies, apple juice for flies. Let us know how you get on.)
