Well-tempered: The Australian Cold Bag.

These cold bags – a distinct advance on the usual picnic "cooler bag" – are made by Didgeridoonas®, a Queensland firm, one of the hottest places in the world, where they understand these things ! First comes an insulating layer of quilted wool – the same technique as used by sheep that manage to keep themselves pleasantly warm in both winter and summer. Sheep's wool fibres contain a mass of tiny hollow cavities that provide excellent insulation. This wool is then sewn up in a layered cotton fleece with an outer skin to prevent condensation getting in. The outside of the bag is made of oilskin . Our cold bag, which comes as a rucksack , will keep the contents cold for up to 24 hours if used with a cold storage accumulator, or 8 hours without – or, on the other hand, it will keep things hot for 12 hours.
