Wide bowl, black melamine, 2500 ml capacity, height
Here are two particularly good examples of kitchen bowls - heavy, shockproof and stable, with a decent base ring made of rubber. They are also hygienic, long-lasting, easy-care and suitable for dishwashers - and inexpensive.
Materials generally known as duroplastics (these include Bakelite and melamine) always seem to look good, in contrast to their thermoplastic successors. Some say that this is due to the «density« of the material which can only be mould cast and has therefore not been subjected to designer extravagance or cheap processing.
Here are mixing bowls made from heavy melamine. Developed in 1935 and related to Bakelite, melamine was much used for kitchen equipment because of its great strength, high resistance to heat and food safety factors.
Our melamine products come from WACA in West Germany a company which has been processing duroplastic since 1921.
Melamine products are nor suitable for use in a microwave oven.
