'Helmet or no helmet?' asks the cyclist – and there's something to be said for both sides. Helmets are safer, to be sure; on the other hand, anti-helmet people point to excessive media campaigning, and to the logical absurdity of insisting on the wearing of a helmet when you go on a leisurely bike-ride in the country, while neglecting this precaution when you go up or down the staircase in your home (statistically, the risk of head injury is greater on the staircase !). We leave the decision to you, of course – one thing, though: how about the aesthetic side? The helmets you get in the shops look, frankly, like snakes' heads – extra-terrestrial snakes at that! What we offer is a helmet that conforms to the highest safety standards – outside of hardened polycarbonate, inside of polystyrene (both black), air vents for optimal head ventilation, individual head-size regulator, classy double chin-strap etc. – yet has that extra flair and elegance that only Italians seem to manage. Which is why, after a long search in Northern Europe, and carefully avoiding Asia, we ended up in Chiuduno in Lombardy with a newish firm (Kask & Co) who make safety helmets for both private and professional sportsmen. Our helmet comes with or without pull-down visor. The visor – slightly tinted – can also be ordered separately, and can be worn over ordinary glasses if necessary .
