A Black Panther – in actual fact, a Leopard.
Black panthers are simply leopards with black skins – the black is caused by one recessive gene. As this is not a dominant gene, it means that both ordinary spotted leopards and black ones can occur in the same litter. Black panthers are commoner than generally supposed – they make up almost half of the leopard population of the Malay Peninsula.
