Schär. Coconut carpets - made for "eternity

Coconut weaving was once a broad-based industry in Europe and especially in Germany; today, there is almost nothing left of it. At August Schär KG, the original manufacturing method has been preserved as if in a bubble of time - by no means with a museum-like attitude, but because modernization was postponed until the old machines and techniques were in demand again. Since 1938, Schär has been processing coconut fibers into high-quality carpets for industry and private households. When many other coconut weaving mills had to go out of business, Schär was still able to expand its stock of old machines, which is why the company is secure in the long term from a technical point of view. Production facilities in this form no longer exist anywhere else in Germany.
