The focus is on tea and culinary herbs as they have grown and flourished for centuries in monastery gardens around the world. The selection ranges from classics of Mediterranean cuisine to well-known and more obscure medicinal herbs. The leaves of the blue mallow, for example, are said to be able to alleviate respiratory complaints when brewed as a tea. Yarrow is said to have an anti-inflammatory effect, lavender a calming one, and St. John's wort helps with stomach complaints. Dried marigold blossoms enrich sweet desserts, the young leaves of the edible chrysanthemum are delicious in salads, and lemon balm goes well with fruit salads and a variety of mixed drinks, whether infused hot or cold. The organic seeds are all locally grown in the Göttingen area. Good to know: Behind the cardboard "facade" of this seed Advent calendar is a pulp growing tray with 24 wells that can be used for sowing on the windowsill in the spring. Sowing instructions are printed on each of the 24 sachets, the recipient only needs to provide suitable sowing soil. All components of the calendar are 100% recyclable and can be disposed of in waste paper.
