Many gardeners are familiar with the term ’verticulate’ – a staple of the golf-course greenkeeper’s art – which means a special technique for ridding your lawn of moss and other harmful and unsightly weeds and at the same time making holes in the soil to allow water, air and nutrients to reach the grass roots. Altogether, a rewarding task – but a bit of a chore, too, if you don’t have the right equipment. We offer here an elegant, tough, highly professional verticulating rake made by the famous Dutch firm of Sneeboer, with a wide row of really sharp stainless steel blades or ‘teeth’ that enable you to apply the necessary force (verticulating can be hard work!) without exhausting yourself. The blades are individually detachable – so they can be replaced or sharpened as required. Verticulate your lawn in the spring (mid-April to mid-May) when the grass is growing fast and can regenerate.
