This is a heavyweight coat-hanger stand, originally conceived for club and restaurant use, which takes up a minimum of floor, yet offers a maximum of coat-hanging space! The upper, revolving section is a miracle of sensible design: it has 36 stalks with the hooks placed exactly right. We’re not saying too much if we call it ‘legendary’ – one only needs to ask the restaurant-owners who are still lucky enough to own one. It is truly remarkable how much this coat-stand can carry without even beginning to wobble.
It’s made by Hermann Schwerter, a firm in Iserlohn, a town in the west of Germany that used to be the ‘Manchester’ of metal goods engineering. It’s one of the very few left in the area that still manufacture their own coat-hangers, stands and similar articles. Our coat-hanger stand offers not only exemplary metal craftsmanship, but has in addition had its finish enhanced especially for us – in particular the coat-hooks, which have been extra finely ground, cut and polished.
