Automatic opening cold frame tunnel

The automatic opening system for the cold frame tunnel ensures that there is no heat build-up under the transparent PE-film during intense sunshine and that the plants are not exposed to excessive cold during the night, even if you are not there to look after your seedlings. The idea is simple yet effective: Wax is introduced into the cylinders made of steel tubing and expands at high temperatures — as soon as the temperature in the tunnel reaches around 20 °C — and pushes the cylinders of the framework apart: This opens the hood. When the temperature gets cooler, so does the wax, and the hood closes. The opening system is easily installed between the base frame of the tunnel and the hinged hood.
