Classic slatted bench oak wood

This traditional park and garden bench appears to be straight out of a book. A cast iron base frame provides a stabile structure; the wood slats, formed in a typically curved, and extremely comfortable manner, make any additional padding or layering extraneous. The frame stems from an iron foundry in Lothringen that has been producing garden furnishings, lanterns, fountains, plant vessels and similar products for over 150 years. We receive our massive oak wood slats from a carpenter’s workshop in Lüneburg; the wood derives from a local forest. While the bench is delivered disassembled, the necessary assembly material and a manual are included. After assembly the bench requires no further care; it simply serves for relaxation. Throughout the course of time a greying of the oak typically occurs. If this is not desired, the wood can be treated with a glaze or oil.

Due to the high tannic acid content of oak wood, blue-black discoloration can occur on the wood surface in combination with moisture and in contact with ferrous metals. In addition, the so-called tannins can be washed out by rainwater and stain surfaces and adjacent materials.
