What sounds strange has long been common in commercial cultivation, for example in the cultivation of tomatoes: The young plants are no longer in beds or pots, but they go directly into the earthbag - the film is cut open in several places for this purpose, and the plants are placed inside. This closed system allows a highly economical use of water: the soil bags are only open at the planting holes; at the bottom they should be pricked (for example with a fork) to prevent waterlogging. Hardly any water is lost this way through evaporation or seepage. Using a good soil also ensures that diseases can not spread through the soil.
