Enjoy instead of watering
Site-specific garden design
Three golden rules apply to planting a garden. First, choose your plants to match soil conditions and climatic conditions. Is the location full sun? Or do you want to (re)design a shade bed? Do you work with clay soil, with rather sandy or stony soil? Can you expect longer dry periods during the year, or rather waterlogging? Secondly, choose plants that you can handle well as a gardener. If you want to work less in your garden and enjoy it more, you should choose plants that rarely require attention and care. And third, make sure your plants are good neighbors to each other. Why, why, why, the studied garden designer Annette Lepple explains in the present volume not only in theory. A detailed basics section is followed by detailed suggestions for the design and planting of various garden situations, from Mediterranean gardens to gravel gardens and dry stone walls. Finally, portraits of more than 100 drought-tolerant, less demanding plants provide information on location, care, propagation and suitable planting partners. So you make your garden fit for the aftermath of climate change, as we notice them increasingly in our latitudes.
