Firelighter Made of CeraFlam®
Stacking aid and firelighter in one. By Denk
Outwardly stunningly simple yet functionally amazingly complex is this firelighter from the Denk ceramic workshops in Coburg. This begins with the fact that the utensil, which is formally based on a log, already proves practical when stacking the logs - the outer notches prevent the stacked logs from slipping.
The firelighter is filled with cooking oil, candle remnants - both are available in every household - or with ethanol gel. When ignited, a filling of about 80 g of candle residue or 100 ml of cooking oil provides a calorific value of up to 1 kWh - an amount of energy that can easily ignite several kilograms of wood. Thanks to the large curved fire channel, the flame comes into contact with the logs over the entire width, allowing the fire to be lit with large logs right from the start. Because the fire starter immediately generates a higher starting energy than other lighting aids, the starting behavior is improved, a good chimney draft is generated and thus the fine dust pollution is reduced. At the same time, the shell made of durable heat-resistant CeraFlam® ceramic stores heat, which it gradually releases into the environment, improving the energy efficiency of the fireplace.
