Made of Brass. From the Gift Idea to the Decorative Pendant.
In the city of the gold and silver smiths, as Schwäbisch Gmünd calls itself, the tradition of producing simple decorative pendants from brass goes back a long time. As early as the Middle Ages, the master craftsmen of the imperial city were producing them. They cut them with a coping saw from brass in order to be able to give them as affordable gifts. Over the decades, numerous new motifs were added, so what started out as a side business with small token gifts became a main source of income. Our supplier also started out making decorative pendants as a hobby. Now in the third generation, the firm has become a serious business and in the 1990s lasers and stamping machines have replaced the coping saw. All the fine work, including the gold plating and polishing, is still carefully done by hand.
