Foot width for size 50 = 40 cm.
The loden fulling machine belonging to the Steiner family is located in Schladming at the foot of the Dachstein-massif. The wool is spun on ring spinning machines into tear resistant yarn which is then woven into raw fabric. After tumbling, napping, spreading, cutting, squeezing and decatizing (the cloth is treated with steam so that it won’t shrink later) a soft loden emerges which offsets cold and warmth, is impervious to wind, abrasion proof and very little prone to soiling: an original Steiner loden. Hiltl in Sulzbach-Rosenberg creates these trousers with a pleat, a small watch pocket and a rather small foot width.
