For eternity. Iron-gallus ink.
The formula is from the early Byzantine period and, as in those times, it is made of iron vitriol, oak-apple brew, gum arabic, and wine or water. Of all inks ever produced, the iron-gallus ink has by far the best flow characteristics and no other ink sticks to the nib for such a long time without dripping. The ink looks grey on the paper at first and only acquires its deep black color after hours of oxidation. But this color is made for eternity and has a light fastness of 100 %.
Writing in ink.
On their way to learn writing even first grades increasingly use the computer keyboard. This is not exactly supportive to the development of their hand-writing and not particularly good for their feeling for the language either. While writing by hand and not typing there is a relaxed development of a much deeper relationship to the written content. The regular use of those old "cultural tools" involving ink can contribute to more enjoyment while writing.
Fuel for the motor of your intellect. Inks.
The characteristic of the iron-gallus ink, to become darker when exposed to air, was already well-known as long ago as the early Byzantine period. The ink is lightfast and indelible, but you should keep in mind that, after several centuries, it will start to damage the paper. Also it represents the sure end of a fountain pen and should, therefore, be only used with goose quills and writing quills.
Don't use iron-gallus ink in fountain pens.
