Ole Mathiesen OM8
OM8. Exemplary Design.
The Ole Mathiesen OM8 is a utility watch of high technical precision and reduced design. Usually, the manufacturer uses for this model a quartz movement. Exclusively for us, Mathiesen equips the OM8 with the manual wind calibre ETA 7001. This calibre has been in continuous production since 1971, and its technical level is beyond any doubt until today. The housing of the OM8 can be built exceptionally flat (with a height of just 6.6 mm) because the height-related disadvantages of an automatic movement are eliminated. The design of the OM8 aims to avoid any intrusive elements. You can read the time without digits on the dial; the pointer position is expressive enough. Among other things, this is ensured by the clear-cut indices that are extended to the middle: more than a third of the minute hand protrudes into their area. The eye finds orientation with precise position marks, which allow a reading accurate to the minute, although there are no minute marks. The OM8 enjoys an outstanding reputation for its design. In 1980 this Ole Mathiesen watch was accepted into the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art.
