    Their social media fame has long preceded them. Who doesn't know them? The "Pasta Grannies," grandmothers from all regions of Italy who have achieved worldwide fame over the years with their pasta recipes. The channel of the same name on YouTube is currently followed by more than 650,000 people, who enthusiastically watch the sometimes very old, still very lively ladies week after week as they combine durum wheat flour and lukewarm water to make smooth dough and artfully shape filled pasta as if they had never done anything else in their lives, as they roll maccheroni or cut tagliatelle with a knife into wafer-thin strips and prepare the most delicious sauces to go with it.
    The project of world fame was initiated by the British author Vicky Bennison, whose book of the same name was also published in German in 2020. In it, she not only brings together the best recipes of her Pasta Grannies, she also lets the women themselves have their say and reveal all the tips, tricks and well-kept family secrets that are hidden behind an original Italian pasta. Which flours are suitable, which kitchen tools are needed? How should a well kneaded pasta dough with egg feel under the hands and how and why does it work with durum wheat? What should you look for when choosing sauce ingredients?
    No question remains unanswered. The lovingly illustrated cookbook, full of color photos, is divided into eight chapters: Pasta with Nuts and Herbs, with Vegetables, Legumes, Potatoes, Seafood and Meat, plus Pasta in Broth - "brodo" in Italian - and Stuffed Pasta. There's only one thing left to do: recreate it - and as soon as possible, because a long life hardly seems enough for so much delicious pasta.
