“Pie de Salón“ floor lamp

General Information
Typical Floor Lamp from the 1960s.
The floor lamp with the euphonious name “Pie de Salón” is the most visible legacy of Jaume Sans, a painter, sculptor and member of the Catalan surrealists’ movement. A designer of furniture and lamps and furniture as well, he designed this lamp as early as 1963. The lamp has been restored since 1999, by Santa & Cole in Barcelona, busy truffle pig of the trade. Santa & Cole searches for and - we are also spiritually akin to them - with the self-image of a publisher in search of unappreciated fruits of 20th-century European artisan and industrial culture with the aspiration of cultural intermediaries – an attitude we readily agree with.
Height-Adjustable and Dimmable.
In addition to its elegant appearance, the Pie de Salón is also highly functional: dimmable and height-adjustable. And while the majority of standard textile lampshades on the market are laminated onto plastic foil or plastic-coated cardboard, the Pie de Salón’s shade is wrapped from narrow strips of pure, undyed linen fabric, overlapping and overlapping, around the shape-giving structure of white lacquered wire – resulting in a feast for the eyes: a white beauty which when switched on changes to creamy yellow and orange hues depending on the dimming level.
