Hazel wicker fences, by far considered the most original form of their kind, were already used for fencing property in the Iron Age. Hazel wickerwork is exceptionally resilient and stable: You can count on a service life of up to 15 years. Hazelwood is weather-resistant and long-lasting – without any further chemical treatment or impregnation. Experienced weavers produce these natural fences according to old handicraft tradition. The harvest time for the hazel rods falls in the period after the first frost when the wood is particularly hard. Therefore, the weavers soak the sticks in warm water to give them the flexibility necessary for weaving. The resulting fences build attractive, functional components and striking design elements in the garden, and you may find them helpful as a privacy screen or a completely natural climbing aid.
