    General Information

Red Wing Shoe Company. Oil-Tanned and Goodyear Welted.

Work boots and shoes that are famed for their comfort and durability have been made in Red Wing, Minnesota since 1905. The full-grain cow hide used to make Red Wings are treated according to a special technique that was developed at the end of the 1940s and patented for Red Wing: The company purchases hides that have been pre-processed with chromium salts and then tans them using mineral oil, hence the term "oil-tanned". This gives the leather an oil content of 22% (8 to 10% is normal), which makes it exceptionally flexible, hard-wearing and water-repellent despite its thickness. The quality of the workmanship corresponds to the high quality of the leather. Red Wing shoes are mechanically welted using the complex Goodyear welt technique.
When placing an order, please remember to use the given sizes (German, English or American). All shoes are shaped on customary lasts. This means they will fit if you do not usually have fitting problems when buying shoes in a shop.

    Model No. 2917. The Rancher.

A Chelsea Boot for the country – American ranchers always appreciated its hard-wearing qualities and used it for work, also for riding. Like all Red Wing footwear, these are made of full-grain leather, oil tanned and later treated with a special mixture of various waxes and oils.

Working Shoes: Stiff at first, wonderfully comfortable when broken in.

Boots to last a lifetime – the longer you wear them, the more you’ll like them and the better they’ll look. Made of sturdy, heavy leather, and with stiffish soles, they need to be given two or three outings before they begin to adapt to your personal foot-shape and to acquire ‘give’!
Once broken in, you’ll find them unbeatable for support and comfort.
