Work Clothes for the Garden
Woven Gardening Hat.
Made of really unusual material! Following a Far East tradition, silk thread is spun together with rice paper to make a material that can be woven into long, narrow strips, which are then sewn on to one another to produce a garden hat that not only looks good but is also soft, durable, comfortable to wear and weather-sensitive. Hat-ribbon of pure linen. Size S, M, L, XL.

A Fisherman’s Shirt for use in the Garden – a real working shirt.
The original kind of fisherman’s shirt doesn’t exist any more – so we’ve had this one made for us in the style of the classic French ‘vareuse’, meaning shirt-blouse. Fishermen’s shirts used to be made mostly of surplus sail-cloth, which would be too heavy for today’s customers, so ours are made of Belgian
linen by Libeco, but still in a rather heavy quality (210 g/sq.m).
This is a comfortable, very simply-cut shirt with a gusset, slit and turn-up one-piece collar. Fishermen’s shirts traditionally have no outside buttons (to avoid catching).
We’ve kept to this tradition: there’s one single button on the inside of the front of the collar (with loop for closing). The breast pocket is also inside.
Linen Fisherman’s Shirt.
Wide long cut. Single-button cuffs with slit, genuine horn buttons. Generous quilting at hem.
100% linen, canvas weave (210 g/sq.m), fineness Nm 20. Length of back for size M = 75 cm.
Size XS (46), S (48), M (50), L (52), XL (54), XXL (56), EXL (58/60)

Sensible working clothing from the west of Germany.
Rofa – in Bentheim, on the Dutch border – is one of the last textile firms in Germany where everything is done under one roof – no outsourcing! The jacket and pleated trousers are both made of strong cotton canvas, a material that ‘breathes’ and absorbs moisture – in other words, ideal for gardening – and which has been pre-washed. Both garments will be extremely comfortable from the very first time you wear them.
This is a sturdy work jacket made of hard-wearing olive green cotton canvas for the in-between weather we get in spring and autumn. Two double reinforced rear pleats make this jacket even stronger, particularly in the important shoulder area. The breast-pocket flaps have been made to take a screwdriver or writing implement, and the left-hand pocket has a metal D-shaped ring underneath for the keys to your tool-shed. The jacket has been given studs for easy buttoning, and ‘breathing’ holes under the armpits.
Of 350g/sq.m. cotton canvas cloth. Piece-dyed. Adjustable waist. Sleeve-ends reinforced with striped corded ribbon. 2 patch breast-pockets with button flaps, and 2 diagonal front zip pockets. Patch pocket with button flap on the left sleeve. Sturdy inside pocket. Striped lining. Metal buttoning studs. Length of back (size 52) 65 cm. Machine wash at 30°C. Size 44–62.

...and the trousers.
These have plenty of roomy pockets to take all your gardening things – plus knee pockets to take the rubber knee-pads we offer: a great alternative to the usual so-called knee ‘protectors’, which are, to be honest, more often a hindrance than a help. The ‘seat pocket’ as Rofa, who thought up the idea, call it, can be used as a side flap pocket from a seated position. The waistband has a D-shaped ring for key-ring or short-handled tools. The lower trouser section is adjustable to be worn either inside or outside rubber boots.
Metal studded hip pockets. 2 Back pockets with zip fastener. Two patch pockets with stud-press flaps at upper leg; right-hand pocket with additional pocket for mobile phone. All inside pockets of tough lining material with piped edges. Metal D-ring. Width of bottoms (size 52) 45 cm, adjustable. Machine wash at 30°C. Size 44–58.

for working clothes. Pre-washed and slightly napped, the garments will fit comfortably and feel good from
the moment you put them on.
Great for Leisure Wear – our Ladies’ Models.
This jacket looks rather like a classic jeans jacket (the jeans jacket was after all originally a work jacket!). The hard-wearing cloth is unlined, and the jacket is, as you’ll expect, cut close to the body. The line of the body is emphasized by quilted seams, and elbow darts give you added freedom of movement in the garden. adjustable cuffs and waistband.
The material used is always the same: dyed cotton canvas weighing 350 g/sq.m.
