Baby blanket merino virgin wool
General Information
Sustainably safe. Soft, warm and soothing
At home or on the go, as a cozy pad on the changing table or meadow, as an overblanket in bed, stroller or carrier - a baby blanket unfolds its value always and everywhere. This wool blanket is light as a feather, but in terms of sustainability and usefulness, it is a very heavy caliber: knitted from the finest, skin-friendly organic merino wool, it is incredibly soft and supple, has a light warming effect and keeps your child safe and secure. The fine ajour knit is edged by an intricate shell seam and has a natural elasticity that predestines the baby blanket for very gentle, soothing swaddling. The high-quality manufacturing of the baby blanket is completely geared towards lasting use, so it will grow close to your child's heart far beyond toddlerhood.
Merino wool. Fine, soft, naturally valuable
Two basic properties make merino wool such a valuable material for children's clothing.
1. Their excellent temperature-balancing effect:
Merino sheep provide a distinctly soft, fine wool, to which the animals owe their much-vaunted resilience. Not even the sometimes extreme temperature differences of their natural habitat can harm merino sheep: In cold weather, their slightly crimped wool fibers are particularly effective at storing natural body heat; in hot weather, the fibers absorb a lot of body moisture and wick it away to the environment with a cooling effect. Last but not least, merino wool is particularly skin-friendly thanks to its very fine wool fibers; even wool-sensitive people feel comfortable in it.
2. Their natural ease of care:
Children's clothing must not only be able to withstand a lot, but also be easy to care for. Virgin wool fibers offer this enormous advantage: they have a rough surface and a natural content of wool fat (lanolin). This is why virgin wool is self-cleaning, as it were - dirt particles have a hard time sticking to the rough fiber surface. So it is often enough to air the garment and brush out the dried dirt.
Disana. Naturally for the child
Natural materials for the natural well-being of the child - this high quality standard is followed by the company Disana, founded in 1982 and based in Lichtenstein, Baden-Württemberg. Whereby the roots of the family-run business go back much further, to the 1960s, when the company's founders Imma and Dietrich Sautter laid the foundation of their textile production with a knitting machine in the basement. Further milestones followed, from the first knitted diaper made of cotton at the beginning of the 1970s to today's collections, which always guarantee one thing: to use selected raw materials from controlled organic cultivation (kbA) and controlled organic animal husbandry (kbT).
Disana exclusively processes organic merino wool from Patagonia (South America) as well as organic cotton from project-supported smallholder family farms in Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia) and Uganda (Central Africa). The textiles are certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), proof of environmentally friendly material, transparency of the entire production chain and fair working conditions. On the way from the natural fiber to the garment, the innovative techniques of the company implement the know-how of traditional craftsmanship - Disana's knitters*, tailors* and seamstresses* stand for profound craftsmanship of the brand "Made in Germany".
Hint:
Warning. Make sure that the child's face is not covered by fabric.
