This bath and shower mat comes from Sardinia and is unusual in several respects: on the one hand because of its firm, voluminous and dense structure, and on the other because of the special production method. The bath mat is woven using three thread systems in a process similar to the epinglé technique used for velvet - a four-ply yarn in the base warp, a loop consisting of 18 twisted yarns and a particularly strong eight-ply yarn in the weft. Traditionally, this technique is used to weave solid wool carpets, but it is also used here - using cotton instead of wool - to make this bath mat, which is nevertheless also recommended as a bedside rug for the bedroom.
