A classic pocket comb, made here from fine cherry wood. A strip on the back with the grain running at right angles to the body provides additional stability. The teeth are individually sawn and polished, and the tips of the teeth are also carefully rounded to protect the hair and scalp. With its fine teeth, the pocket comb is suitable for short, straight hair. It is supplied in a handmade case made from vegetable-tanned cowhide.

A word about care: you can gently clean the wooden comb with warm water and mild shampoo, then dry it with a towel and treat it with a little olive oil or beeswax balm from time to time.

The comb maker Kost in Middle Franconia has been making combs and brushes for generations - and this is still done by hand today. This makes the family business one of the few still active in this trade, as plastic has long since replaced horn and wood, making the profession of comb maker largely superfluous. Kost Kamm has remained true to the original material of wood, which can only be made into combs and brushes by hand. Fruit and hardwoods are used that come exclusively from the region. The combs you will find in our range are made from hard, yet elastic cherry wood. It has a fine, even structure, is pleasant to the touch and - a fundamental advantage for combs - antistatic. The grain and color are always different, sometimes lighter, sometimes darker; the color palette ranges from shades of green and brown to red and white.

Kost Kamm combines traditional craftsmanship, the experience of several generations and new techniques to guarantee high quality, functionality and an attractive design. In more than 20 manual production steps, combs in a wide variety of shapes are created from the natural material. Each tooth is sawn out individually, then the tooth base, flanks and tips are ground out with diamond-tipped grooved wheels, carefully polished and finally polished with a rotating cotton disk and mineral wax. Grinding and rounding the tips of the teeth in particular requires a great deal of care and sensitivity so that not only the hair can be gently detangled when combing, but the scalp can also be massaged. All combs have a crossbar at the back - also made of cherry wood. The wood fibers run lengthwise here, giving the comb even more stability. Careful polishing means that the wood requires no further surface treatment and acquires a nourishing patina during use. Kost Kamm also uses local beech wood for the brushes, which is processed by hand, finely polished and then simply oiled.
