These colorful wooden houses come from the Werner toy manufactory in the Erzgebirge. They owe their cheerful colorful nature to our desire to break new ground in terms of decoration. We were looking for simple, small objects that could be hung in a bush or placed on a table or windowsill, regardless of the season or occasion. And they had to fit in with different living and furnishing styles. Wolfgang Werner was able to fulfill this wish. Together we developed the wooden houses, which he was so enthusiastic about in the end that he added them to his own range. However, the wooden houses we offer can only be found here, because the colorful paint in this combination was created by us. Some will be reminded of the red houses in Sweden, others of the colorful houses in Nyhavn in Copenhagen, in Porto and Cinque Terre, in Holland, Cape Town or Halifax in Eastern Canada. Well, even if you can't bring color to your place of residence, the houses will at least add a splash of color to your home.

The little houses are made by hand in the Seiffen factory by master turner Wolfgang Werner. His design expertise is evident in even the smallest products - no wonder, as he originally set his sights on a career in engineering. Born into a long-established Seiffen family of toymakers, Wolfgang Werner ultimately decided to pursue the craft. Woodturning and turning, carving and sanding are in his blood, and so he carefully handcrafts his constructions - from Christmas decorations, swing figures and walking animals to toy boxes, crates and boxes - from beech, maple, birch and spruce wood from local forests. He uses maple wood and stains it in color for these colorful little houses.

The fact that a famous wood art developed in the originally densely forested Erzgebirge is not only explained by the availability of the material. As a branch of industry, handicrafts became all the more important as the local mining industry rapidly lost resources and profitability. Folk art slipped into this gap, which mining - no less than Christmas - still shaped with numerous motifs. A center of wood art emerged around Seiffen, where one of the first specialized trade schools was founded in 1853 to promote handicrafts. In the so-called Toy Corner, small and large craft businesses still produce the classics of the folk art of the Erzgebirge: from hoop animals and smoking men to miner figures and nutcrackers to candle arches and wing pyramids.

Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
