An alum stick is a good after-shave for wet shaving, is indispensable for the classic razor shave, and for electric shaving is good for a pre-shave. At the same time, it is an effective and economical deodorant, esteemed by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History. Simply moisten the Alum stick and run it over the skin. If kept dry the alum stick can be stored indefinitely.
