Terracotta pots like these – loosely packed with straw – are ideal for earwigs to live in. The hole at the bottom is just the right size to allow you to put the straw in, but to stop it falling out! To make life easy for the earwigs (and other aphid-eaters) we suggest you hang the pot directly on one of the branches of the affected plant or tree (usually a fruit tree).
