General Information

Exclusive

Discover singular products that may remind you of items you already know and appreciate; however, these products – exclusively available from us – feature a refined design meeting our clear-cut requirements.

Seed balls with a diverse mixture of native wildflowers of proven origin, specially compiled for the greening of tree grates under street trees in the city. All of the plants contained can cope well with drought and root pressure and, once established, contribute to the preservation of biodiversity in urban areas. Easy to care for, they not only offer us humans the most beautiful wild flowers, but also provide the insects in the area with plenty of nectar and pollen.

Note: Many of the wildflowers contained in the mix self-seed and thus continue to spread in the city. Before sowing, loosen the soil slightly (or apply a layer of fresh soil), press the balls down lightly and keep moist until germination.

Secret urban greening (plus legal advice)

Seed balls like these originate from the garden guerrilla scene. These are plant-loving citizens who use the balls to beautify urban wastelands, sidewalks and traffic islands and make a visible statement in some places. We are following this with great interest. (However, if you have similar intentions with our baubles: Our in-house lawyer strongly advises us to urge you not to stray onto municipal property when walking up and down your garden. Which could happen - quite unintentionally).

Mixture with native seeds

We can and do determine the composition of our seed balls ourselves - to give preference to native species. All the seeds we use are locally grown and the wildflower mix contains only native species. F1 hybrids are not included, so the plants reproduce themselves in the right location and seeds can be harvested for subsequent years.

Handmade from East Westphalia

The soil is supplied by an organic farm in the region, while our supplier obtains the clay from a nearby clay pit. The production is carried out by a workshop for people with disabilities. The soil and clay are first mixed together and then the seeds are added. Everything is mixed well in a kneading machine and the mixture is pressed into long strands, from which small pieces are cut off. These are then rolled into balls by hand.
