- Figurative charm: brings visual volume to delicate plants
- Traditional craft: fired from Tuscan terracotta
General Information
Upright support. Japanese inspired
Bergs Potter describes these plant sticks from the "Folk" collection as "guardians of growth", which provide support for your smaller climbing, creeping or even flower-heavy (orchids!) houseplants as they twist upwards or tilt their inflorescences. Designed by Rasmus Rostrup and fired from fine Tuscan terracotta and glazed by hand in color, "Hinto" and "Oni" add visual volume to delicate plant arrangements and enrich your windowsill decorations with the charm of Japanese-inspired craftsmanship: Hinto is reminiscent of a torii - the entrance gate to a Shinto shrine in traditional Japanese architecture - while Oni is reminiscent of a samurai's helmet adorned with horns. The plant sticks really do justice to their guardian role, but please take a little care when "installing" the filigree, figurative ceramic so that the delicate shoot tips and sensitive roots of your potted plant are not damaged.
Plant pots for generations. Bergs Potter in Copenhagen
When Victor Berg inherited his ceramics business in Copenhagen in 1942, it was particularly important to him to make the everyday lives of his fellow human beings a little more colorful in gray times. In the words of the Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen: "Life alone is not enough, said the butterfly. You must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower." So Berg always kept a bouquet of vases and pots in his store and also added cut flowers to the range. The people of Copenhagen liked this - over the years, several stores in the Danish capital were added, and eventually also plant pots and planters based on his own designs. When Victor Berg's children joined the family business in the 1980s, they began to have their own ideas - initially inspired by historical models that they found all over Europe - molded in terracotta. To this end, Bergs Potter still works with traditional potteries in Tuscany, more precisely in Lucca, and now also in Portugal; a tradition that is now being continued with great dedication by the third generation of Bergs. The preferred material is the famous southern Tuscan Galestro clay, which is rich in minerals and is considered to be particularly frost-resistant. Once fired, even the unglazed terracotta can show shades of red and pink, gray and white - an appealing natural patina that only this clay possesses. Another advantage for the health of your potted plants: the carbonate and potassium salts contained in the clay ensure good permeability, which can have a particularly positive effect on the development of the root system.
