As soon as spring brings us the first fruits, there are already two or three fruit flies in the kitchen. And as summer approaches, the usual household remedies are no longer enough to keep the little pests under control. It also gets really tricky if you want to catch the fruit flies but don't want to kill them. This live trap for fruit flies offers a simple and highly effective way out of the misery. Simply place a piece of banana, raspberry or other fruit inside, sprinkle it with a little vinegar and put the lid back on. Attracted by the scent of the fruit, the animals will crawl into the trap through the small hole in the lid and get in, but not out - until you release them back into the wild later as bird food. It is best to change the fruit every two to three days. In winter, you can also use the fruit fly trap as a tea light holder.

The live fruit fly trap is made from Albicium® (Latin "alba" for "white"), a white, rather fine natural porcelain that the Denk ceramic workshops produce themselves. The black dots in the porcelain are natural iron silicate, which occurs in almost all porcelain clays but is usually removed for the sake of appearance. The material is unglazed, yet dense. Sintered in the firing process, it is resistant to acids and alkalis and is easy to clean, even in the dishwasher if necessary.
