General Information

Huge bread divider.

With a blade of 30 cm and a total length of nearly half a meter, this knife still makes clear what used to be understood by a decent country bread. With the serrated edge, it divides a sourdough bread with a crispy crust just as cleanly into slices as a compact, dark wholemeal bread.

The bread knife is forged, ice-hardened, hand-dressed and sharpened by hand; it is worked with forged out end knob.

A brochure on knife care is included. Do not sharpen on the sharpening steel.

Giant bread slicer. Forged by Güde in Solingen.

With a blade of 30 cm and a total length of almost half a meter, this knife clearly demonstrates what a proper country loaf used to be. With its serrated edge, it slices oven-fresh white bread or sourdough bread with a crispy crust just as cleanly as compact, dark wholemeal bread - no wonder Güde itself calls the knife a "bread saw". The bread knife is forged, ice-hardened, hand-dressed and hand-sharpened; it has a forged end knob and you can choose between POM and plum wood for the handle scales.

Today worldwide. The serrated edge.

The three palm trees as a trademark were introduced in 1923 when Franz Güde took over the company from his father. He worked intensively on the development of new grindings and grinding processes and registered the serrated edge as a utility model and patent in 1941. This is a process by which the blade can be ground through to the cutting surface in waves, which significantly increases cutting ability and edge retention. Such a knife stays sharp for much longer. Today, even cheap bread knives from all parts of the world are equipped with a serrated edge according to Franz Güde, but initially Güde was the only company that had mastered the serrated edge and therefore also equipped knives from other companies with it.

Professional Cooking Tools. Forged Stainless Steel Knives from Güde.

At the end of the handle, you find a second bolster. The extra weight shifts the center of gravity of the knife backwards, giving it a superior balance. These forged kitchen knives come from the Solingen factory of Franz Güde, who founded his blacksmith workshop in 1918. All Güde knives are made of stainless steel, ice-hardened (56 HRC), hand-pulled and hand-sharpened.

We offer the Güde knives in two variants: with grip plates made of plum wood and - as for professional knives mandatory for years - with grip plates made of the thermoplastic polyoxymethylene (POM). All handles are fastened with stainless steel rivets.

Care instructions:
Clean the knives immediately after use with a damp cloth and dry directly.
