It is large, it is delicate and yet massive, it does not conceal its sharp points and it gives the impression that a force is inexorably pushing outwards from its center, an explosion - a supernova, as is assumed for the Star of Bethlehem. That biblical star pointed the way to the manger. This brass star may not be able to illuminate it, but it does spread the sparkling magic of Christmas.

The hand-forged star is a work of art that appears disorderly and chaotic at first glance. And yet the blacksmiths at Königsmünster Abbey have carefully cut, bent and shifted it. With a twinkle in his eye, Father Abraham calls the construction "intelligently bent sheet metal", which is almost incomprehensible to the observer. Initially laser-cut from sheet brass as a large, coherent field of stars, the material surface is then carefully polished to create the special light reflections. The next stage of the work process demonstrates the mastery of the blacksmiths: Whereas individual stars are usually arranged along an axis and shifted against each other, here the bending axes lie in the prongs of the star frames themselves. Moreover, the ballet of stars follows a strict choreography, as the sequence of "folding" to form the complex star is precisely defined - it alone ultimately gives rise to this star, which seems to expand dynamically in all directions. But don't worry, on your dresser, your festive table or in your window, the brass star is at least as safe and secure as the secret of its creation was kept by the monks of Königsmünster Abbey.
