General Information
A Thumb Piano.
The kalimba has a pleasant sound and is easy to play. It's a member of the lamellophone family and is also called a thumb piano because the stainless steel plectra are plucked by the thumbs. Peter Hokema in Walsrode produces them in different sizes and models. They're tuned in such a way that the combination of the sounds from the individual spring steel plectra produces clear chords; simply put: you can only produce harmonies on the kalimba.
We have two models:
The Kalimba B5 is a pocket model. When all five spring steel plectra are plucked they produce a clear F-minor chord.
The Kalimba B9 is equipped with nine plectra which are tuned to produce an A-minor chord with an additional B and F.
