Ladies belt calfskin
Shiny tanned calfskin and pit tanned cowhide.
This distinctive belt is created in the Kreis leather manufactory using two layers of the finest leathers worked flat and with an open edge. A vegetable-tanned calf leather from Italy is used for the upper leather, which is given a silky-matt finish through the process of "gloss butting". The inner leather is a strong, pit-tanned blank leather from the German tannery Kobel in Kellinghusen. The natural colored leather is polished at the belt edge with a colorless, transparent wax, giving the belt a casual and sporty character. Belts made in this style are also called "sneaker belts". Thanks to the high fat content of the inner leather, the belt becomes particularly supple after only a short wearing-in period. It is equipped with a nickel-plated and brushed full brass buckle from Italy.
Belts Made by Kreis Leather Manufacturers.
Founded in 1963 in Offenbach by Erich Kreis, the Hessian leather manufacturer Kreis became specialised in belts early on. The firm is run today by Bernd Kreis, the son of the founder. He uses only full-grained leather: classic box calf and traditionally pit-tanned cow leather from Germany, saddle leather from England and the legendary Shell Cordovan horse leather from the Horween® tannery in Chicago. Kreis is one of the very few manufacturers of hand-made leather belts which still cultivates the time-consuming art of triple layer belt construction.
