With its beautiful cable knit pattern and striking melange tone, this sweater is a real eye-catcher. The name baby alpaca refers to the fineness of the fibers. Baby alpaca can come from young animals from the first shearing, but also from adult alpacas if the fiber fineness is between 20.1 and 23 microns. Because alpaca hair is so incredibly fine, soft and silky and shiny, the Incas also called it the "fleece of the gods". Alpaca hair is hollow on the inside and can store body heat at low temperatures, while at higher temperatures the heat is released to the outside. The fine hair also contains hardly any lanolin, making it particularly allergy-friendly. The cable-knit sweater is finished with a narrow ribbed cuff at the round neckline. The sleeves and body are finished with wide rib-knit cuffs.

Besides aiming at high-quality standards, Les Racines du Ciel’s declared entrepreneurial goal is to promote artisanal traditions and products and thus preserve jobs in impoverished rural areas. They choose their production locations correspondingly.
