Laundry bag mangle linen

General Information
Functional and versatile. Laundry bag made of mangle linen.
We are not sure that a laundry bag is always used as such, because our own experience and surveys in the house show that it does not accommodate dirty laundry only when traveling, nor exclusively textile. But whatever you use it for - storing or transporting laundry, shoes or toys, sports or beach stuff, etc. - this laundry bag does it all. The Hoffman linen weaving mill makes it from so-called mangle linen, a very tightly woven and thus strong, durable half-linen fabric. The name comes from the former use of this fabric for cold ironing. In this process, the laundry to be ironed is laid dry or with some residual moisture on a long cloth - the ironing linen - and rolled onto a wooden roller, which is rolled back and forth with great pressure under a box weighted with sand or similar. The linen itself is gently smoothed in the process, as no heat is required. The ironing line, however, must be very durable and long-lasting in order to withstand this stress over the long term. The laundry bag made of it is correspondingly sturdy. The extra-thick cord runs in sturdy galvanized metal eyelets, which can withstand even a strong jolt.
Linen Made in Lusatia.
Upper Lusatia is today part of the German state of Saxony, except for a small part east of the Neisse River around Luban, which now belongs to the Polish Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The region is characterised by fertile soil, gently rolling hills and historic towns like Bautzen, Görlitz, Herrnhut, and Bad Muskau. The development of the linen industry in the 17th century helped the region to prosperity. The linen weaving mill Hoffmann in Neukirch in the rural district of Bautzen is one of a very few still active mills there today. With its long-standing experience and specific expertise, the firm has specialised in jacquard weaving and stitching. The current owners started the reprivatisation of the mill after the fall of the Berlin Wall. With lots of commitment, they and their team put old weaving machines into operation again to tie in with tradition – and the story of the Lusatian weaving continues.
