General Information
Having a pig
From the ancient Greeks to the Romans and Germanic tribes right up to the present day: anyone who "has a pig" can call themselves a lucky person. The pig's path to becoming a symbol of happiness is astonishing, as the grunting, sniffing, wallowing animal is often associated with impurity - wrongly. After all, pigs are anything but "dirty pigs". They like to roll around in puddles and mud pools for air-conditioning and hygienic reasons. The mud cools the body as it dries, and the pigs can scrub off the dried mud and with it all the vermin that had settled between their bristles: the best exfoliation that nature can think of.
But back to luck: the pig has become firmly established in today's society as a symbol of good luck. Especially on festive occasions such as birthdays or New Year's Eve, it is an indispensable part of the ritual of wishing good luck. It dangles from key rings and rear-view mirrors, spreads joy as a souvenir and watches over happiness within your own four walls as a decorative object of trust. Our cheerfully smiling little lucky pig, felted by hand from New Zealand virgin wool, is able to bring you or someone you care about good luck - all the more emphatically because it comes with a four-leaf clover, another traditional symbol of good luck (but we'll tell you that story another time).
Fairly combined. Gry & Sif
During her backpacking trip through Nepal, the Dane Gry Staunstrup was immediately captivated by the openness and warmth of the people - and by their craftsmanship. She was able to observe in detail how skillfully and skilfully Nepalese women felted wool into Objekten. The idea of using this skill and combining Nepalese craftsmanship with Danish design was quickly born. And the idea was immediately followed by action.
Since 2000, the company Gry & Sif has been producing a wide range of products from wool felt in Nepal. The designs supplied by Gry Staunstrup are in typical Danish design, as striking as they are discreet and at the same time carefree and cheerful; the production is carried out by Nepalese women using traditional craftsmanship. Now Fair Trade certified, Gry & Sif stands for fair wages, good working conditions and transparency. Only pure new wool from New Zealand sheep is used for the felt products - each of which is unique and handmade.
