EtaProof® is the moderate wax-based impregnated cotton cloth from the Zurich weaving mill Stotz. It is so tightly woven that the fibers swell on contact with moisture and water droplets bead up on the surface according to the protective principle of umbrella silk. Mayser uses it to make this baseball cap-style headwear. The umbrella is one-piece, the crown consists of six fabric triangles.

When Leonhard Mayser opened his "Hutmacherey" in Ulm in 1800, he could hardly have imagined that Mayser hats would one day become a global brand, with an annual production of 3.5 million pieces in 1963, a record year (unsurpassed to date). Today, the production figures are far lower, but Mayser can still call itself a global brand with sales markets in 44 countries. The secret to the success of the company based in Lindenberg in the Allgäu, the former "Little Paris" of hat fashion, has remained the same for more than two centuries: Quality. While design, purchasing and sales are still based in the Allgäu, production was relocated to Slovakia in 2002. Mayser built its own factory there and also trains its own staff.
